This is a 1998 production of the classic "Guang Yun Gong" tea cake which has been produced by the Guangdong branch of the CNNP. According to the original recipe this is produced from a blend of Yunnan Pu-erh and Guangdong-area tea leaves. All are sun-dried and processing in a similiar way but this is a blend of Yunnan large-leaf varietal leaves as well as small-leaf varietals from Guangdong province that would otherwise be processed into oolongs. This cake has been iron-pressed like its predecessors and has been stored for most of its time in Guangdong province before being re-located to Kunming in 2005. The taste is unique with a noticeable "Guangdong storage" flavor which quickly passes after the first few infusions. Later infusions yield a a myriad of complex flavors. The tea soup is already quite reddish and very clear. The aroma is pleasant.
This is a special tea that we are proud to offer, however it is not a traditional pu-erh nor was it entirely stored in Yunnan so please purchase a sample if you have any doubts about whether or not this tea is suitable to your palette.
