Product Description

To many, the Xi-Zhi Hao (more accurately Xizihao) brand requires no introduction.  For a number of years Mr. Chen, a Taiwanese man with a passion for Pu-erh, has created some of the most highly acclaimed tea cakes on the market. He is extremely dedicated to his work and has been known to hike the mountain trails of Xishuangbanna scouting out the best wild arbor raw material. In this way, he guarantees that if the cake says its "Nan Nuo" or "Pa Sa" it really is!  He selects the best "mao cha" from these areas and oversees its processing from start to finish to make sure it turns out just as he needs it to be!  This cake is composed of wild arbor material taken from Meng Hai Da Huang Ya in the south part of Menghai County. The name "Huang Shan Lin" means Desolate Forest. The raw material for these cakes comes from just this small area. A single-estate wild arbor cake that was stone-pressed. Packaging design by Mr. Chen himself!

Production area: Meng Hai Da Huang Ya

Other Comments: Unblended Pu-erh from Ancient Trees.

Sanhetang Tea Company Production - (Pressed and packaged in the Mengyang Guoyan Tea factory in Jinghong)

  1. An exceptional tea - characteristic taste

Posted by justin on 2nd May 2011

I used a half-sample for a regular sized pot, making sufficient quantity for a large japanese green tea cup (about the size of a regular gaiwan). After cleansing the dry tea and the pot with a cupful of hot water, i used boiling water and 5 seconds for the first infusion. The tea was bright yellow and tasted mild. The second 5s infusion picked up much more flavor and color. I continue to use boiling water with no more than a 10 second infusion, and have obtained 12 cups so far without weakening! I suspect the tea will last me through the next two to three days. Wish i could pick up a full beeng of this one.

  2. Sample is worth getting...

This is very good, with loads of qi that leaves you pleasantly drunk. The flavor leans towards higher tobacco and mushroom notes, with citrus accents. A bit later in the session gives you buttermilk and berries. Lasts well more than 15 brews the way I brew it.

  3. very good raw tea

it is one of the best raw teas I have had
