Product Description

Set of 2 Tea Cups made of Celadon Ceramic and glazed in the Ge Yao Style.

These ceramic tea cups are not only elegant but fairly large (each holds 70ml of liquid). Hand-made in Jingdezhen by a special gradient glazing technique, the cup is stunningly beautiful.

A bit of the history: Ge Yao (Ge kiln 哥 窑), pronounced "Gē yáo", ceramic "crackled" style was first used in the early Song Dynasty (960–1162), probably in the Zhejiang province in China. It was perhaps the earliest example of intentionally using cracked glaze styling in the world. Scholars are uncertain of the kiln’s exact location, though, and legends recorded in documents of the Ming Dynasty suggest the kiln was named after the elder brother of the director of the Longquan kiln.

Note: These teacups are actually more green than the picture would indicate.

Dimensions: 70ml volume
